Site Usability
About Usabiliity
A website is just another tool and like anything new, we need to learn how to use it. Supporting documentation must be designed and built into the fabric of the site as the user has no manual to refer to. My experience of user manuals were large clumbersome documents with small text and very few illustrations. Another frequent problem is the contrast. Sounds familiar?
One way to make things easier is to design with the user in mind - better still , be the user and describe all the problems you are now facing while trying to use the tool. In design lingo, Carry out a User Evaluation..
Unlike many objects in our world, human beings are individuals and their sensory abilities change over time. Usability Engineering is the study of how we interact with these objects and what features can be incorporated to facilitate ease of use.
This site uses a number of accessibility features designed to assist users including :
- Frameless Design to support screen readers
- Free text flow to provide user scaling
- Line spacing to reduce eye strain during alignment
- Automated proportional margins to reduce need for horizontal scrolling
- Non pixel image scaling to enhance screen resolution
- Titled anchors for feedback (screen Readers)
- Print stylesheets to provide enhanced screen printing
