Community Links
Background
Many local bowling clubs were formed to provide facilities within residential areas. This model endured while people lived and worked within a small geographical area. The combination of modern employment practices and new residential patterns are now forcing clubs to review their practices and seek new user groups and relationships.
The community links project is part of the clubs long term planning strategy to engage with new local stakeholders and where possible, identify new working relationships.
Motivation and Goal
The declining and aging membership has resulted in a loss of specialist skills and labour to support and manage the functional requirements of the club. The net result is a reducing core of over-burdened enthusiasts who spend more time on facilitation duties than their primary reason for joining the club - to play bowls. The goal of the project is to attract human resources which provide a sustainable membership and support access to specialist knowledge.
Invitation to External Stakeholders
The club would like to develop relationships with groups and enterprises within the Glasgow West community who could utilize the facilities throughout the year.
Glasgow Low Carbon Report June 2010
Glasgow District council invited a number of interested parties to discuss the feasibility of creating a city wide plan to reduce the effects of Carbon within the environment. The project vision is to encourage the transformation away from carbon based / fossil fuels towards natural renewable energies. This report was released for publication in December 2010.
