Website Project

Background.

The website project was originally conceived by the author as a means to consolidate and develop his technical skills while creating a new and valuable resource for the club. Like any new initiatives, the idea received a lot of negative feedback and comment from members. Their main grievance was not the publicity the website could generate but the Accountability which external stakeholders now demanded.

Benefits to the Club

Unlike any other communications medium, the website has encouraged new stakeholders to interact with the club, overcoming the anonymity and physical barriers which obstruct engagement. This has been particularly evident during the winter season when residents contacted the club to report infrastructure problems.

Communication and Resource Generation.

The website has also enabled residents and members to match resource opportunities to club requirements. An excellent example has been the provision of gardening equipment to support the Garden Project. This investment accelerated the project enabling it to meet its milestones ahead of schedule.

Although incomplete and under development, visitors were able to make inquiries about venue hire. This generated opportunities for bar sales and networking with potential funding sources and other external stakeholders.

Information and Publicity Resource.

The website has reduced the need to provide club literature and other supporting materials during networking events. It has also enabled potential stakeholders to make informed decisions based on published content.

Website Restructuring April 2010.

Like any dynamic resource, the website is constantly being updated. The next phase of its development will include the provision of new sub menus targeted at various stakeholder groups. The vision is to enable these groups to change their status from virtual visitors to actual participants in the sport. This is in accordance with the Scottish and Local Government key objectives.

The intention is to provide a secure sub domain to comply with the Protection of Personal Information legislation (Data Protection Acts) and Fredom of Information guidelines.
