Well, it’s hard to believe that we are way past the halfway mark for the bowling season. So far it has all gone really well. Both in terms of bowling and social events.
On Saturday July 5th Willowbank were happy to host a one day County Match for the GWBA.
This was a busy weekend for the club as on Sunday, the 6th of July we held our Summer Fete. Everyone had a great day and we raised almost £1500, thanks to generous donations, lots of hard work from many volunteers and of course the money spent by members and visitors.
Two weeks later on Sunday, the 20th of July our Petanque members invited all members to join them to celebrate Bastille Day. Fun and games and delicious food helped to raise another £750 for the club and of course we have the photos to prove it!
As mentioned in a previous news update the women are doing a great job, currently representing Willowbank at the Scottish National Championships.
The club competitions are progressing nicely and we will be looking forward to our finals weekend on the 23rd and 24th of August.
There are several bookings this month including two children’s parties – 2nd August and 16thAugust. Although they are taking place around midday neither of these will impact on the bowling. There are also two evening bookings on 16th and 30th August. They will take place in the clubhouse and any members wishing to use the green will be able to access the bar if drinks are required.
The defibrillator will be located outside of the clubhouse to ensure it is available at all times for everyone using the club. Further information will be posted about this in the next day or two.
On Sunday 3rd August we will welcome our friends from the Western Baths. Everyone is welcome to come along to share our hospitality. As mentioned in a previous message we would like members to help with Bowling and Petanque but if you can’t commit to helping, please come along and enjoy the company. The bar will be open and we will provide some nice snacks to go with your drinks.
